# Adding Stories to the Map Manually

The stories available for your map are displayed in the [backlog explorer](../../UserInterface/Backlog_Explorer.md). To add a story to your map:

1. Locate the story you want to add in the list. You can search for specific stories using the **Filter** field.
1. Click on the desired story and drag it to the cell on the map you want to assign the story to.\

   The target position is indicated in blue.
1. Release the mouse button to drop the item at the desired position. The story's parent is automatically set to the work item entered in the column header, as you can see in your backlog:\

**Note**: You can also add new product backlog items by clicking on **New** in the backlog explorer.
